Regulation
The Eastern Cape Gambling and Betting Board (ECGBB) oversees gambling operations under the Eastern Cape Gambling and Betting Act. Licensed sports betting operators serve the province, while international online casinos remain accessible to players.
The ECGBB is responsible for licensing land-based casinos, bookmakers, and totalisator operators within the province. They work alongside the National Gambling Board to enforce responsible gambling standards and ensure player protection.

Online Gambling Options
Eastern Cape residents can access all nationally-licensed sports betting operators including Betway, Hollywoodbets, Supabets, and Sportingbet. These platforms offer comprehensive sports betting, virtual sports, and lucky numbers.
For online casino gaming, international platforms like Springbok Casino, Europa Casino, and BitStarz accept Eastern Cape players with ZAR support. Mobile betting is particularly popular given the province's younger demographic in university cities like Grahamstown (Makhanda) and East London.
Responsible Gambling
The ECGBB promotes responsible gambling through awareness campaigns and support services. If you or someone you know has a gambling problem, contact the National Responsible Gambling Programme at 0800 006 008. All licensed operators must display responsible gambling information and offer self-exclusion options.
