Mustang Gold Slot Review

Game Overview

Mustang Gold from Pragmatic Play captures the spirit of the American Wild West with stunning visuals of wild mustangs galloping across vast open plains at sunset. The 5×3 grid with 25 paylines is a classic Pragmatic Play setup that has become one of their most enduringly popular titles — and for good reason. The combination of the Money Collect feature with four fixed jackpots creates a uniquely rewarding gameplay loop.

Released as part of Pragmatic Play's jackpot series alongside Wolf Gold and Great Rhino, Mustang Gold refined the Money Collect mechanic that has since become a staple across the provider's catalogue. The game remains one of the top 20 most-played Pragmatic Play slots globally.

Money Collect Feature

Horseshoe symbols land with cash values or jackpot labels (Mini, Minor, Major, Grand). When a Collect symbol appears on reel 5, all visible horseshoe values are awarded. The simplicity of this mechanic is its genius — you can see exactly what you stand to win on every spin, creating constant anticipation for that Collect symbol to land.

The four fixed jackpots are: Mini (typically 15-30x), Minor (75-150x), Major (250-500x), and Grand (1,000x stake). Unlike progressive jackpots, these values are fixed — the Grand always pays exactly 1,000x your total stake, regardless of bet size. This makes them accessible to players at all stake levels.

The Money Collect feature depends on money symbols and the Collect symbol appearing together. Consult the paytable for the symbol rules; a previous trigger does not predict the next one.

Free Spins — Mustang Spirit

Three or more scatter symbols trigger 8 free spins with a special twist — extra wild mustang symbols are added to the reels during the bonus. These additional wilds significantly increase win frequency and combine with the Money Collect feature that remains active throughout free spins.

Free spins can retrigger with 3+ additional scatters, though this is uncommon. The real value stems from the combination of increased wilds and the Money Collect feature — landing a Collect symbol during free spins when multiple horseshoes are present can deliver substantial payouts in a single spin.

Why Mustang Gold Endures

Mustang Gold's longevity stems from the perfect balance of simplicity and reward. The Money Collect mechanic is immediately understandable — even first-time slot players grasp the concept within seconds. The fixed jackpots provide clear win targets. The visual quality remains competitive despite the game's age. And the 96.53% RTP is genuinely above average for a jackpot-enabled slot. For SA players discovering Pragmatic Play's catalogue, Mustang Gold is an essential starting point.

Our Verdict

Mustang Gold remains one of Pragmatic Play's finest achievements — a game that balances accessibility, visual quality, and genuine win potential. The Money Collect mechanic is simple but endlessly satisfying, and the four fixed jackpots give every spin purpose.
