Understanding Odds Formats
Decimal odds are the standard in South Africa, used by Betway, Hollywoodbets, Sportingbet, and most SA bookmakers. They show the total return per R1 wagered. Odds of 3.00 mean a R100 bet returns R300 total.
Fractional odds (e.g., 5/2) are traditional in the UK and show profit relative to stake. 5/2 means R5 profit for every R2 staked.
American odds use +/- notation. Positive (+150) shows profit on R100 stake. Negative (-200) shows how much you must stake to profit R100.
