    Pot Odds

Ratio of the current pot to the cost of a call in poker.

    Full Explanation

Pot odds are the ratio between the current size of the pot and the amount you need to call. For example, if the pot is R300 and you need to call R100, your pot odds are 3:1. Compare pot odds to your estimated probability of winning: if you have a 25% chance (3:1 against), calling is break-even. If your winning probability is higher than the pot odds imply, calling (or raising) is profitable. Implied odds extend this concept by considering future bets you expect to win if you hit your hand. Understanding pot odds is fundamental to profitable poker and transforms gambling into mathematical decision-making.

    💡 Example

Pot is R400, call is R100 (4:1 odds). You need a flush with 9 outs: 9/47 = 19.1%. Pot odds say call.
