    Problem gambling (also called gambling addiction or gambling disorder) is when gambling behaviour causes significant negative impacts on the person or their relationships, finances, health, or work. Warning signs include: chasing losses, betting more than you can afford, borrowing money to gamble, lying about gambling, feeling unable to stop, and neglecting responsibilities. In South Africa, the National Responsible Gambling Programme offers free, confidential help via their 24/7 helpline: 0800 006 008. Treatment options include counselling, cognitive behavioural therapy, support groups, and self-exclusion from all gambling platforms.
