    Surrender

Giving up half your bet to fold a bad blackjack hand.

    Full Explanation

Surrender is a blackjack option allowing you to forfeit half your bet and fold your hand instead of playing it out. Early surrender (before dealer checks for blackjack) is rare but very valuable. Late surrender (after dealer checks) is more common. Optimal use of surrender reduces the house edge by approximately 0.07%. You should surrender hard 16 against a dealer 9, 10, or Ace, and hard 15 against a dealer 10. Many South African online casinos offer surrender in their blackjack variants — always choose games with this option available as it provides better long-term value.

    💡 Example

You have 16, dealer shows Ace. Surrender: lose R50 of your R100 bet instead of playing out a bad hand.
