    Volatility (Variance)

How often and how much a game pays out.

    Full Explanation

Volatility, also called variance, describes the risk level of a casino game, particularly slots. High volatility slots pay out less frequently but offer larger wins when they do hit. Low volatility slots provide more frequent but smaller payouts. Medium volatility offers a balance. For South African players, understanding volatility is crucial for bankroll management — high volatility games require a larger bankroll to withstand dry spells, while low volatility games are better for players wanting longer sessions with smaller budgets.

    💡 Example

High volatility: Book of Dead (big wins, rare). Low volatility: Starburst (small wins, frequent).
