    Stake

The amount of money placed on a bet.

    Full Explanation

The stake is the amount of money you wager on a bet or casino game spin. Proper stake sizing is fundamental to responsible gambling and bankroll management. The general rule is to never stake more than 1-5% of your total bankroll on a single bet. Fixed staking (same amount every bet) is safer than variable staking. In sports betting, confidence-based staking assigns larger stakes to higher-confidence bets. South African sportsbooks typically have minimum stakes of R1-R5 and maximum stakes that vary by market and event. Your stake determines both your potential win and potential loss.

    💡 Example

With a R2,000 bankroll, a responsible stake per bet would be R20-R100 (1-5%).
